Wieger and Jorrit Buurma shaped surfboards out of a passion for surfing and craftsmanship. They did this in a shed in the backyard, which was an apple orchard. This is where Appletree got its name. Expanded to the first factory in Rijswijk, and now to a 3500m2 large factory in Portugal, Appletree is one of the leading brands on the water. The boards are known for their incredibly strong and sturdy construction due to the use of a hard and waterproof foam combined with the special 'Hex construction' building method.
